Mountain

One Day Basic Navigation
This course is designed as a complete introduction to mountain navigation. We will cover different maps and compasses as well as spending a day out on the hill practicing navigation along paths and following easy features. This is the ideal course if you are inexperienced at navigation and want to get yourself around the mountain path with confidence!

One day Advanced Navigation
This is a follow on course from the basic navigation (although you don't have to have done our basic course to sign up for it). Here we will look more at navigation off of paths using less obvious features and practicing how we would navigate in poor visibility. It is designed for anyone wanting to be able to get their way around the mountains without having to stick to the obvious route. It is also a good course for anyone looking to do their ML assessment but in need of a refresher on navigation.

Night Navigation
Night nav is navigation in the dark! "Why in the dark?" I hear you ask. This is not for all those times you come up with a fantastic walk after a few beers in the pub! It's for practicing in bad visibility. It is a follow on course from our advanced nav course (but again you don't have to have done our advanced course). We will go out in the dark to teach and give you plenty of time to practice really advanced navigation techniques for very poor visibility! Designed for the hill walker who wants to really practice getting fully confident in the mountains or for people coming up to their ML assessment who want a bit of extra practice on this difficult area.

Mountain Safety
This course looks at nearly all aspects of mountain safety. From teaching the basics of how to use a synoptic weather chart, to mountain first aid, emergency situations, what you should have in your rucksack, river crossings and more. Everything you need to be more confident to look after yourself in the mountains!
